The Road of Links

Every business should have a website, free blog, Google+ page, something that is searchable on the World Wide Web. If you have a local business and you do not have one of these, I wish you luck with your success but, I can guarantee you are missing out on customers. So, go do that and then come back to reading this article. Actually, if you are not anywhere on the internet, I doubt you are reading this article anyway. This leads me to my point. Your business website is out there in this digital universe we call the internet. You can have the greatest website with all the best marketing on it as possible but, people need to come to it for all of it to work. No one will read this article if no one can find it or get to it on the internet. Interesting enough, you must drive traffic to your website for it to be a successful tool at converting people into customers. In fact, if you have read my other articles, I believe that creating a customer is the sole purpose of having a business. This meaning that your website is probably the essential tool in bringing you the most new customers. So, how do you naturally attract people to your website?

Think of your website as an island. Weird right, no seriously it's an island. It is out there alone on the internet asking for customers to come to it. How do you get to an island? You get to an island through a bridge, a boat, a plane, a tunnel etc. You need people to come to your island. So what is a bridge in the internet world? The answer is a LINK. The secret to natural traffic to your website is a link and, not just one link, tons of links. I sure hope there is not only one way to get on and off an island. There are four primary ways to create bridges to your website number one, articles (like this one), number two, videos, number three, pictures, and number four, social media. There is no equal to posting good content every day. Yes, you must try to post an article, video, picture or social media every single day. If you have a blog, all you need is to create one piece of content and it will post to all of your social media (twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pintrest, Google +) it is the easiest and fastest way to create more traffic because it creates more links. However, there are different sizes of links. Let's say for example, a local business owner I know would post a link to their website on my blog. Now, that is fine because it is creating another path to your website but, my blog only has so many links so it is only creating a narrow road for traffic to travel on. What type of site would you want to get a link on so a wide road of traffic could travel on? You got it, a big one! A site that has the most links coming off of it (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, Yahoo, Bing).

I know this may all be a little common sense but, I just want to paint the picture for you on the back end. I want you to visualize what is happening when you are creating content over and over again so you get traffic. So go out and do it make as many links to your website or blog as possible. This will create traffic which will lead you to your ultimate goal of creating a customer which is the reason you own a business.

Get Backlinks - 7 Tips for Your Success

Maybe you've experienced what I have where you came to a point in your business where you caught on to the strategy to build backlinks to your backlinks. Then the reality set in that after several months of building hundreds or even thousands of backlinks and not tracking them, it wasn't going to be as easy as you thought it was going to be to find them all.

Maybe you felt like I did at one point: wanting to quit the whole SEO strategy and put your efforts into paid traffic, because you bought some backlink checker and first of all it took you a week of full-time effort to figure the program out, then when you got competent enough to get it to spit out a report on how many backlinks it could actually find, you could count them on one hand!

Even though it can be as painful as bamboo under your toenails to get backlinks that count, when you go over to Majestic SEO and drill into the numbers a bit and see how many cumulative backlinks some well-known online marketers have built over the years, it gives you the inspiration you need to keep at it and build your backlinks even if you think you're just spinning your wheels.

On the issue of how to get backlinks, these few suggestions will help. There are various methods that you can use and a great deal of attention will have to be given to the strategy and process in order to utilize all the leverage available to you through these backlinking resources.

Building Backlinks 7 Different Ways

1) There's the proven option of getting your articles published on authority article directories in order to increase the exposure of your website to millions of visitors and get valuable search engine rankings. The cost of getting published in article directories is free so I think you'll agree this makes it a fantastic investment.

A thorough reading of the editorial guidelines will help you create valuable content efficiently. A good tip to remember, in regards to backlinks, is to place all the links permissible to you in your article. Typically, depending on the article directory, you can have 1-2 "non-self-serving" links in the article body and 2 "self-serving" links in the author resource box. Make sure you're familiar with the guidelines in order to get quick submissions.

2) We know Social bookmarks are a great way to get backlinks but don't forget, when you set up your social media account that you also created a public profile URL that you can build backlinks to. You can create extremely valuable Web 2.0 profile backlinks absolutely free of charge. Another way to get Web 2.0 profile and website backlinks is by submitting a PDF version of your article to the various document sharing sites.

3) There is also the option of getting back-links through press releases and news announcements. This approach gives good results since there are many websites that can publish for free as well as make announcements. You need to make a professionally written document for a press release to be able to attract more attention and get visitors to your website.

4) You can also get backlinks by exchanging contents and affiliate programs. This can be through offering RSS feeds to interested sites for free as they do the same for you. You can then be able to get more visitors as they look to get more information based on the abstract they read from other websites.

5) In addition, you can use joint ventures, co-branding or partnership for the purpose of getting backlinks. To do this you can make a request to have them link back to your website. Another option on how to get backlinks is to do a guest post on these websites and include a link as free content for them. This will make it possible for them to get more traffic through reference.

6) Another method to use is the "link-bait". I'm not sure if I like that description but it does convey the idea well. This basically means giving away a gift so as to be able to get backlinks. A way to do this is to have gift cards from shopping websites online to attract more visitors to your websites. Many readers will want to get the gift in the offer and this increases readership, since they have to go through your website to win.

7) Creating a multiple series list is also helpful as you work on how to get backlinks. This works well based on the fact that readers can follow your website better using the lists created. The lists are easier to scan through and this makes the whole process less complicated. Another aspect is the fact that people love to link to lists and this will increase the flow to your website.

I remember years ago when I was first leaning how to golf and getting exacerbated, the Pro who was coaching me said "if golf was easy, everyone would be a Pro". The truth is SEO isn't easy but with repetition you can become a Pro; and keep in mind that your income will be in direct proportion to your ability to get quality backlinks.

Creating Backlinks to Your Backlinks

Creating backlinks is the best way to accomplish your goals as a webmaster and the most fundamental and important aspect of search engine optimization. Backlinks will:

1 - Bring in traffic to your site.

2 - Raise your site and individual pages in the SERPs.

3 - Improve upon the authority and reputation of your site in the various search engine's eyes (see 2).

For most of us this is pretty well traveled ground, but today I'm going to talk about creating backlinks to your backlinks in terms of what I mean, how it works, and why you should do it.

Backlinking Your Backlinks

Say that you create a link to your website on an article directory. If it's a high profile directory like Ezine Articles then it's likely that that link will get noticed by Google. We don't want to exclusively rely on just one of ANY kind of site, remember that Google loves link diversity and that includes all kinds of links from different types of sites, different sites within that type, and sites which are authoritative and probably not so authoritative (as the case may be).

The problem with creating links to your site from smaller sites is that they likely won't get picked up/indexed as easily or likely as a backlink from a more highly trafficked and authoritative site like Ezine (not even every Ezine article gets picked up right away or at all sometimes). Therefore it can really help to backlink your backlinks.

This means that when you create a backlink to your site, think about bookmarking or RSSing that link. This significantly improves the chances that Google will find that content and thus give you credit for the link, thus improving your "money site" URL's position in the SERPs for its keyword.

So in staying with the Ezine example, if we write an article, submit it to Ezine, and it eventually gets published on their site, we would take that URL for the article and bookmark. You might also think about pinging it with your ping utility of choice.

Creating backlinks to your backlinks is one way of getting Google or your search engine of choice to notice your content and to significantly increase the odds that you'll get credit for that link, but it's not the only way. There are a lot more things that you can do to make them take notice of and index your new content.

Check out my post on 8 ways of how to get your website indexed for more tips to ensure that your content gets found OFF of your website in addition to just focusing on content on your site.

SEO Submission Software: How to Use Web 2.0 for Link Building?

Web 2.0 is a concept that describes a second generation of World Wide Web that is focused on people's ability to share information online and collaborate with each other. The technologies encompassed by Web 2.0 include social bookmarking sites, RSS, tags, blogs, and AJAX. Bloggers and online marketers can submit content to Web 2.0 sites for link building and traffic.

Web 2.0 sites are ideal for content marketing and link building practices. Whether you are using SEO submission software or you prefer old school link building techniques, Web 2.0 is a powerful tool that will enhance your marketing efforts. Using websites like Squidoo, Hub Pages, and Weebly to get relevant backlinks works now more than ever. However, you need to submit high quality content in order for this strategy to work.

Most Web 2.0 sites are free and easy to use. You have to sign up for a user account, fill in your profile, and add a brief description of yourself and your business. Adding fresh content will boost your popularity and help you establish yourself as an authority in your field. You can use Web 2.0 sites as additional resources or hubs to your main site. Just sign in and create an interesting profile that grabs people's attention.

Write compelling posts that contain your targeted keywords and then submit them to Web 2.0 sites. Interact with other users and leave comments on their pages. Link to other blogs and Web 2.0 sites from your post. Add related videos and pictures to enhance your content. The biggest advantage of Web 2.0 is that you can socialize and meet people who are interested in what you have to offer. Join groups, engage in conversations, and share useful content with other users.

Web 2.0 is made up of social media sites, blogs, and networks. The more content you provide, the more popular you will get. These platforms allow you to create mini sites and hubs within minutes. Most of them receive thousands of hits every day. Each visitor is a potential customer. A compelling post that offers unique information can help you obtain relevant backlinks and get quality traffic to your site or blog. Individuals and companies alike are finding new ways of connecting through Web 2.0 technology. When used properly, this technique can help you find new business opportunities and enhance your backlink profile.

A backlink generator can increase traffic to your site and enhance your link building efforts. Whether you are launching a new website or you want to grow your online business, using SEO submission software will help you achieve your goals in a short period of time.

SEO - Bad Links Are Worse Than No Links

If you own a business and have a webpage, you have no doubt received emails from companies promising thousands of links to your site that will guarantee you a spot on page one of any online search. Hopefully, you have relegated those emails to your spam folder because that's where they belong. Google is taking a hard line on unauthoritative links, crushing the ranking of some websites along the way. Here are some things Google is looking for and what you can do to avoid problems with your site.

Paid Links - If you're buying links, HALT! STOP! CEASE! Google will punish you. Google is on the lookout for artificial and unnatural site links that are intended to effect page rank. If you suspect you may have been penalized for links you paid for, delink from them as quickly as possible. Go back as far as you need to go back. If you've been buying links for 3 years, go back 3 years and delete all of them.

If you suspect you have links to your site that you don't know about, use a tool such as SEOmoz to check your backlinks. There have been occasions when a website has bought links to a competitor's site, and then reported the site to Google. Using SEOmoz will allow you to see what sites are linking to you. If you find a site that should not be linking to you, contact them and demand to be delinked. If your demand goes unheeded, have the rel="no follow" attribute added to them.

Once you have cleaned up your site, don't wait out the penalty. It may take longer than you think. Instead, write to Google outlining the steps you took to clean up your site, and ask for reconsideration.

Widget Bait - Have you ever seen an advertisement asking you to sign up for a website counter? You think it's pretty cool, and it's free, so you sign up. There's a good chance that there are hidden links in that widget. In fact, there is a website counter out there with links to a pay day loan outfit. The website owners who posted the widget didn't even know there were links associated with it. This is an example of widget bait. If you decide to insert a third party widgets into your site make sure that all the links are clickable, readily viewable, and relevant to your site.

A widget that has links in plain site but is not relevant to your site will not buy you a lot of love from Google. Google is looking for links that conform and are relevant to the editorial content of the site it is linking to. If the link within the widget goes to a totally unrelated site, Google will not look upon it as being authoritative and will not give you the editorial vote you need for a higher page rank.

Reputation Management - Google is on the lookout for sites that appear to use a "reputation management" firm. Many of these firms use spammy links to try to push up positive articles on the site. Google is ignoring those links.

As I've said again and again, if you have great, relevant and compelling content on your site, Google will reward you. If you have sites linking to your site because your site is engaging and editorially relevant to the linking site, Google will reward you for that. If your content is unique you will be rewarded. In SEO, hard work and creativity is being rewarded, shortcuts and trying to rig the system is not.

Backlink Building Service: How to Use Charity for Link Building and SEO

Charity is probably not the first thing that comes to your mind when developing a link building campaign. Nonprofit organizations are usually in the same league as government websites when it comes to domain authority. Getting backlinks from these sites can increase your search engine rankings significantly. Although it takes some time and effort to see results, you will get the warm feeling of helping someone who is in need. Sponsoring charities is a great way to generate high quality links and increase brand awareness.

Find one or more non-profit organizations. You can either make a donation or apply as an affiliate. Many charities rely on intermediaries, so they have affiliate programs. If you promote them in order to raise funds, they will link back to your website. In addition to charities, there are many organizations that require donations to continue operating. They often thank their donors by creating thank you pages that contain links.

If you are not able to make a donation, you can volunteer for a charity. This will help you get relevant backlinks to your website and become more experience in a field that interests you. The vast majority of non-profit organizations are very generous in linking out to business owners and websites who volunteered or partnered with them. In order to find non-profit organizations that match your interest, go online and search for terms like: "donations," "thanks to the following donors," "sponsors," etc.

Showing that you care about the community will help you establish credibility and trust. When people visit your site and see that your company is socially responsible, they will appreciate your efforts and tell other people about your business. If you provide quality content on your site, they will link to your posts and become regular readers. While your donation is meant to help others, you can still use it to promote your website. It's a win-win situation.

If you choose to promote non-profit organizations as an affiliate, place a banner or a widget on your website. Create a landing page describing the mission and values of the charity you are promoting. Organizations that support humanitarian causes will be happy to link to your landing page. Contact other webmasters and bloggers to report your initiative. Don't forget to share your landing page on social networking and social bookmarking sites. Encourage your fans and followers to make a donation and support your cause.

There are many other ways to build links to your site. You can hire a backlink building service provider who specializes in link wheel SEO, article submission, guest posting and other strategies with proven results. An expert can help you obtain fast results in terms of SEO and improve your rankings in search engines.
